Could you explain the quiz quiestion that I got wrong? I chose "eso", for "I like that one" (a boligrafo). The correct answer was "ese". Yet "eso" is listed a correct option in the lesson if the object is not named in the sentence. Thanks.

Ese vs eso
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Using ese, esa, esos, esas, eso for that one, those ones and that (demonstrative pronouns)"

Hola Ann M
Since the sentence mentions that "that one" refers to bolígrafo, a specific noun, the gendered demonstrative pronoun "ese" must be used to agree with the masculine noun. "Eso" would only be appropriate if the object weren't specified or if the reference was more abstract.
Feel free to ask if you’d like more examples or explanations!
Saludos
Silvia
