I know this lesson gives a short explanation about what this topic is but I feel like it does not do a good job of truly explaining the subject it just gives examples. So would you be able to explain to me how to actually talk about habits in the past?

Having difficulty with this
Hi Skyler,
I think you question is about how to conjugate the verbs in order to talk about habits etc. This is one lesson:
Conjugate regular -ar verbs in the imperfect tense in Spanish (El Pretérito Imperfecto)
This is another:
Conjugate regular -er and -ir verbs in the imperfect tense in Spanish (El Imperfecto)
I hope this helps and that I’ve understood your question. I find it helpful to slow down and read the lessons carefully.
Keep asking the questions when you are not sure.
John
Hola Skyler
Those conjugation lessons that John added to his comment will help you see more examples of the use of the imperfect tense. But as the lesson says, the imperfect is used when you want to talk about something that happened in the past that was a repeated action, you did regularly; for example:
Yo iba a la piscina cuando era pequeña.
I "regularly" went to the swimming pool when I was little.
Or:
Antes comía muchas verduras, ahora no.
Before, I used to eat lots of vegetables, not anymore.
This is the specific used of the imperfect explained in this short lesson.
Saludos
