Hacer meaning to travel???

This question suggested conjugate Hacer but the tranlation said 'travel' I don't understand why we would use hacemos instead of viajamos in that context? We would never say 'we do (or make) 200 to get to work' in English and I can't find any suggestion online that hacer is used to describe travel but perhaps it is a quirky Spanish anomaly?  Thanks for your help to understand this one :)
Marta y yo ________ 200 km a la semana para ir a trabajar.
Marta and I travel 200 km a week to go to work.(HINT: Conjugate "hacer" in El Presente)

 Hola Meilin

Yes, the use of "hacer" in this context is normal and it's idiomatic, so we use it when we express an amount of any type of distance:

Cada día hago 3 kilómetros de caminata para mantenerme en forma.

I walk (do) 3 kilometres a day to stay in good form.

Me monté en la bici e hice al menos 15 millas.

I went on the bike and did (rode for) at least 15 miles.

Saludos
