With the question ¿Cuántas alumnas aprobaron el examen? why is the answer ciento cincuenta and not agreeing in any way with the fact that they are alumnas and not alumnos (as per the following example)?
¿Cuántas personas acudieron a la manifestación? -Trescientas.How many people attended the demonstration? -Three hundred.

Numbers (only the hundreds not the tens or units) over 200 have to agree to the gender of the noun they refer to. So 325 women would be trescientas veinticinco mujeres. 125 women would be ciento veinticinco mujeres.

Hola Ama,
as Marsha said in the thread and as explained in the lesson, the number is invariable up to 199. From 200 on wards the number agrees with the noun (just for the hundreds part, not for the tens or units).
Saludos,
Inma
