use of un, una when giving people's professions.

I got ripped by several Spanish speakers for saying that "45 es una titere" is incorrect grammar. Because I am not fluent I could not argue the point. Am I correct or are they?

Hola Gretchen

I am not quite sure what your question is... There is no profession in Spanish called "titere". "Títere" means "puppet" in Spanish. Do you mean "titiritero/-a"? This means "puppeteer". If you mean that, then you'd say:

"Soy titiritero." or "Soy titiritera"
