The use of the imperfect doesn't convey the "used to" (action that used to happen in the past but we assume it doesn't happen any longer) - it could also reflect actions that "were happening" or a simple "happened" if we see that action as a more generic past "something happened". Nevertheless, I'll consult with our English team so they corroborate this. My belief is that occasionally in English you could use the preterite without being that specific.
