Sentirse vs sentir

The test question is:

She feels that she is not progressing much at work.The answer is siente. This doesn't seem correct because:
      1. it is not followed by a noun
     2. It describes a complex subjective feeling

Hola Steven

What you have right after "Siente" is a subordinate clause using "que..." - in which case you need sentir, not sentirse. In a sentence using "Siento + [que...], that whole subordinate clause "que..." is acting as a noun, therefore you're feeling "something" ( = sentir ) 

Siento algo.

I feel something.

Siento que estoy perdida.

I feel something and this something is "that I am lost."
