Por dónde vas is the question to ask someone but what if I want to be more specific ? Por dónde vas en tu libro? How do I say where are you at for the book? Where are you at now at your book?

To specify in terms of a book you'd probably mention the page or the chapter more naturally:

¿Por qué página vas? ¿Por qué capítulo vas?

Which page/chapter are you on [now/so far]?

You may also say:

¿Por dónde vas en el libro?
