pronouncing the S at the end of nuestroS

I don't hear the S at the end of nuestros when the speaker says nuestroS recuerdos. Am I just failing to hear it, or is it in fact silent?

Hola Mick

I listened to the audio carefully and he is pronouncing the -s in "nuestros", but it is less perceptible because the next consonant is an r- (nuestros recuerdos). This makes it less audible. It always happens when we have an -s and an r- together. I can hear it as a native but I can see why for non-native the sound of that -s is pretty much hidden.

This has come up before in another dictation and I tried to force those letters myself but if you want to make the sound of that r ("r fuerte", like a double r in perro, carro...) and be able to roll the r properly, you need to "compromise" on the previous -s sound, if it makes sense.

Saludos

------- i discovered that my hearing was falling off .   i wasn't hearing the sibilants / fricatives (s, ts, f, h, k, t, x ).   while getting hearing aids, i found out that i wasn't able to hear higher pitches (most womens' voices, for one ) .   that's one thing to check.

however, many latinos drop final esses .   so your hearing may be perfectly accurate ! . . .
