por que/para que

Hi room

Why do we use por que and not para que in the sentence 'Puse todo de mi parte por que no termináramos separados'

Hola Paris

You can use both "por que..." and "para que..." but they'd be conveying something slightly different.

Puse todo de mi parte por que no termináramos separados.

Here it is expressing the reason why he made all the effort (because he didn't want to end up separated from this person)

Puse todo de mi parte para que no termináramos separados. (in order not to end up separated from this person)

Both are grammatically correct.

Thanks Inma

Actually if using the para que construction, shouldn't it it be written 'Puse todo de mi parte para que no terminemos separados'?

I do not understand the distinction you are making here between "because" and "so that".
