Hola Herb,
we'd use it for "at all", for example:
No me gusta nada ir de compras.
I don't like going shopping at all.
No te va nada ese vestido.
That dress doesn't suit you at all.
You can also use "nada" before an adjective in sentences like this:
Esos pantalones no son nada baratos.
Those trousers are not cheap at all.
