Meaning of 'sano'

Hi,

In the sentence above, the translation of "... comer sano." is given as '... eat healthily'.  Doesn't 'sano' mean 'healthy' and 'sanamente' mean healthily?

I'm sorry to be so pedantic, but I like to get things right at the start.

Best regards,

Colin

Hola Colin,

sometimes some adverbs take the form of an adjective; this is the case here with "sano", which here in this sentence means "healthily", not "healthy". You would normally say in Spanish "comer sano", not "comer sanamente".

Another example of an adverb using the adjective form is "rápido" (instead of rápidamente): "Ella conduce rápido"

I hope this clarified it.

Saludos

Inma
