Location of adjectives

The lesson is clear that "bueno" in front of a noun means "great," but simply "good" if after the noun.  So the instruction is that this girl simply wants a good man.  But the "correct" choice is "un buen hombre"!

Hola Arthur

The hint given for this question where the right answer is "un buen hombre", placing the adjective in front of "hombre", is "we are referring to a simply good man"; this is what "buen hombre" implies - if we had said "un hombre bueno" instead, then that implies a more extended meaning of goodness, as in good, gentle, generous... as we state in the lesson.

I hope this clarified it.

I am trying to get an answer to an issue about adjective placement (before or after the noun) and am quite frustrating. Here's the situation. I took a test which included an item on adjective placement. The "hint" for the item was "excessive". My answer was scored as incorrect. I went back to the lesson, but still did not find an explanation to why my answer had been marked incorrect. I wrote to Kwiziq and received a response that was totally useless. I communicated this, and was told to pose my question in this forum.  Here are the two original items I wrote to the Kwiziq "help" feature.

My point is that in the lesson on adjectival positioning it does not mention "excessive" as a characteristic that warrants the  adjective be positioned BEFORE the noun. In the quiz exercise, I took "excessive" to mean something that distinguished the noun (in this case, "precios"). Thus, "precios" can be distinguished as either altos or bajos. In other words, excessive was no hint because it does not suggest "altos" is an inherent characteristic of precios as say, white would be an inherent characteristic of snow, or red an inherent characteristic of blood. As such, I'm still confused as to why my response was marked incorrect.

Can you help me?

Respectfully,

Pati Ecuamiga

Hola Pati

I went back to the lesson and I modified it a bit. You were right by saying that test question with the hint "excessive" for "altos" wasn't very clear and it wasn't reflected in the lesson; I have replaced now that question with another one using a different adjective. I hope that helps.
