Why is le used? Isn't the same pronoun used as in conocer (lo)?

Pronoun "le" as a direct object pronoun referring to someone masculine singular, which is precisely this case in:
Nosotros le reconoceríamos sólo por su figura.
We would know him just by his silhouette.is acceptable as per the "Real Academia Española" (RAE) as long as it is referring to a masculine singular noun (not feminine or plural). In Kwiziq we tend to make sentences using the forms "lo" and "la" for direct object pronouns but this usage of "le" is quite extended in some parts of Spain, therefore it is always useful to see some examples to learn about this as well.
