gustar & preferir

I can say "I like white wine" and also "I prefer white wine".  Is it the same in Spanish?  - I know there's a difference (i.e. comparison vs general) and wondering how similar it is to the English usage (which can be subtle at times).

Hola Ric,

yes, the same difference you see in the English meaning, we have the same in Spanish. One thing is "to like something" and another "to prefer something":

Me gusta mucho el pescado pero prefiero la carne.

I like fish very much but I prefer meat.

Saludos
