For the last sentence, why do we use ser instead of estar?

Hola Jamie
We are using "soy" instead of "estoy" here because the verb ser is linked to "primera". It is as if we were saying "I am the first [person] in the garden". This then would be using ser for identity "I am the first person [who goes to the garden]". However, I added in the hint given "use ser" because I can understand it is a bit confusing when you are talking about "being IN the garden" which would trigger "estar".
I hope this helps,
Saludos
Inma
