El pretérito Perfecto Compuesto vs El pretérito Perfecto

Question

Regarding the hints in the tests. Sometimes the hint says to conjugate in "El pretérito Perfecto Compuesto" and other times just "El pretérito Perfecto". If I enter El pretérito Perfecto simple it's incorrect. The study buttons take you to the same lesson, and seem to be asking for the same answer, am I missing something?

El Pretérito Perfecto and El Pretérito Perfecto Compuesto are the same tense: the present perfect tense in English, "I have worked, you have worked...) El Pretérito Perfecto Simple is the simple past tense in English also called El Pretérito Indefinido in Spanish, "I worked, you worked, she worked...) We have a table that show the possible names given to all tenses in Spanish. Have a look here. 
I am not sure what you refer to when you say "when I enter  El pretérito Perfecto simple it's incorrect." What do you mean? in a test, an exercise? 
Could you clarify a little please?
