el imperativo para el verbo dar

el imperativo para el verbo dar

¿En este ejemplo por qué la forma segunda persona singular del verbo dar se usa para el imperativo?

Here is my question in English, in case my question in Spanish is incorrect or just too awkward:

In this example, why is the 2nd person singular form of the verb, dar, used for the imperative?

Hola James,

This is the question you are referring to from the quiz, I imagine:

Javier, ___ esa revista a Manuel. (Javier, give that magazine to Manuel.)

We need "da" here as the imperative for tú of the verb dar.

This is a command to "Javier".

It is as if we said (a bit more abruptly..):

¡You, give that magazine to Manuel!

It may not look so much as a command because we didn't use the exclamation marks but it still it; you can see the "comma! after Javier.

Javier, ..........

I hope this clarified it.

Un saludo,

Inma
