Hola,A little confused on the structure of this:Deja que yo busque la carretera en el mapa.It's the part that deja plays - I'm interpreting it as imperative. I'm thinking it should be dejame, or something like that? Gracias,

Yes it is an imperative: deja...
It means literally "Permit that I look for the road on the map". You could also use the pronoun as you are suggesting "Déjame que yo ....", both are correct.
Here are other similar examples, with other forms of dejar, but always in the imperative:

Deja que te ayude. (Let [me] help you.)
Dejad que os ponga esto en la cabeza. (Let [me] put this on your heads.)
Dejemos que pasen todos los coches primero. (Let's let all cars go first.)
