de or en = in?

de or en = in?

In a question requiring the answer "Sevilla es una de las ciudades más bonitas de España" I put en instead of de and was marked incorrect. However, as the lesson states, this isn't incorrect but simply 'less common'. In fact, isn't it so that a closer translation of the 'de' here might be '...one of the most beautiful Spanish cities' rather than '...cities in Spain'?

Hola Graeme,

I added the answer using "en España" as another possible correct answer.

However, your suggestion about a change in the English translation may not be the best idea. I think "one of the most beautiful Spanish cities" would directly translate into "una de las más bonitas ciudades españolas" or "una de las ciudades españolas más bonitas". I believe the translation given in the lesson and the quiz is more accurate despite the different use of "de" and "in" in Spanish and English.

Hola,

I have a similar issue with this question:

Mi sobrino es ________. My nephew is one of the cleverest children in his class.(HINT: Use "listo" for clever, use "niño" for child)

Correct answer: uno de los niños más listos de su clase

Mu answer: uno de los niños más listos en su clase

I used "en" instead of "de" and it was wrong. Can't you add the part "de su clase" to the sentence above like this:

Mi sobrino es ________ de su clase.

Hola Deborah

I also added the option using "en su clase" as correct. Sorry about the delay.

uno de los niños más listos de su clase

This came up as incorrect using "en" just now 04/23/2021.

Hola Michael

I just checked and the system definitely has "en su clase" as a possible correct answer. If you got it wrong, can you send us a screenshot of your answer or tell me when you did that test so I can check?
