Como=if

I learned Spanish in Mexico and this usage is not familiar to me. Is it more likely found in Spain?

This is very common in Spain. I believe it is also something commonly used in Latin America, at least in some countries. Maybe you haven't come across it before.

Thank you for this exercise, Inma - it is something completely new to me - despite the fact that I have been working at my Spanish [or trying to !] for 20 years... > @Julia - "A new reference grammar of Modern Spanish" by Butt and Benjamin (4th edition, on p.365) says that according to Lope Blanch this construction is unknown in Mexican Spanish - [although it is used in Cuba]
