Hola Graeme

We've added more options to the possible answers but as the English is saying "colored ceramic pieces", the adjective "colored" would be modifying the noun "pieces", and in your sentence "las piezas de cerámica coloreada", the adjective "coloreada" is appied to the noun "cerámica" instead. When we use "de colores" in Spanish, as the adjectival phrase takes a more neutral form and it doesn't need agreement, it could modify both, cerámica and piezas.

I hope it clarifies it.
