Why is it "las puertas y ventanas" and not "las puertas y las ventanas"? Usually Spanish seems to have two definite articles where English has only one.

Hola Elizabeth
In Spanish you can also omit the second article as it is obvious: las puertas y [las] ventanas.
We'll make sure we are not penalising the use of the second article as soon as possible if that is the case.
Saludos
