a la calle, por la calle, en la calle

Hello Kwiziq,

Is there a rule for when to use 'a la calle'? I think I know the difference between por/en la calle but this 'a la calle' caught me out.

Kind regards

Dee

Hola Dee

Here we're using "a la calle" because the verb is is "ir", so that "a" is indicating "to": ir a la calle.

It's a bit confusing because in English we kept the preposition "in" as this seems to be more natural even if there is a verb that expresses movement.

I hope this clarified it.
