Hola Shirley

the phrase "hacer de comer" is idiomatic for "to prepare/make (for) lunch", without having to mention the noun "lunch" (comida, almuerzo). There is no equivalent idiom in English for this, so we had to use the most accurate prhase in English.

I hope this clarified it.
