When is "ya" omitted in Ya sea/ya fuera... o... to express whether... or...

The lesson says "Sometimes "ya" is omitted, and the structure admits some flexibility"

But when is the "ya" omitted? And why?

Hola David

You can omit "ya" always, in any case. So, all the example sentences that we give in the lesson using "ya sea..." could just say "sea..." - There's no reason why; this is an idiomatic structure that admits both: ya sea, sea or ya fuera, fuera
