What is Impeative

In the lesson is states “Negative commands for tú…..” so that gives you a pointer. The Imperativo is a “mood” and is used to give suggestions, commands or orders in a direct way. Unlike the other moods it is only conjugated in the present i.e. there are no past or future conjugations, because the statement is absolutely about NOW!

Basically like the Subjunctive, the Imperativo is used when expressing a desire, but in a direct way. This can vary almost from a gentle suggestion / instruction like “Tell me about your family” to “Drink your milk now!” to “Stop! or “Push” or “Don’t smoke” all the way up to “Get out of my face!”

Being a wish/desire, there is an overlap with the Subjunctive Mood and some of the conjugations are the same or similar. There are specific and in my opinion really fun ways of conjugating the verbs.
