Use of words "calor" and "caliente"

Use of words "calor" and "caliente"

I understand that saying:

"Hoy, hace mucho calor" and "Hoy hace frio" are both correct.

Is it correct to use the adjective, "caliente" to describe the weather?

And, if so, would you say: "Esta mucho caliente." or "Hace mucho caliente." ?

Gracias!

Hola Shamrockhill

To describe the weather we always use "calor", the noun, when you want to say "It's hot".  The adjective "caliente" isn't used in this context, it's used to describe things, food, drinks... but not the weather.
