translation on sentence

would this sentence be more suitable to be translated to i almost did not reach on time for my appointment, rather than i almost missed my appointment?

Casi no llego a mi cita a tiempo. No he escuchado el despertador esta mañana.I almost missed my appointment. I didn't hear the alarm this morning.

Hola Ashlyn

You're right if we are doing a literal translation as "llegar a tiempo" means to "arrive on time" (or reach on time as you said) but this would sound quite unnatural. We used a more rounded translation so it doesn't sound odd.  So we are considering here that "casi no llegar a tiempo a una cita" is pretty much saying "to nearly miss an appointment".

I hope it clarified it.

Saludos

Is there another phrase for missing an appointment ? Or is no llegar a tiempo the most commonly used phrase to say we miss an appointment ? Just trying to figure out why Spanish wouldn’t have a straightforward way of saying to say to miss an appointment but using a negative indirect statement

You could probably say "casi perdí la cita" because one of the meanings of "perder" is "to miss".
