Hi there Shirley ...

In Spanish, you [almost!] never use a present subjunctive after "Si ..." -

so it is probably best to regard that as an important rule.

[My grammar book does, however, mention that you might occasionally see it after "saber": >

> "No sé si sea cierto" = "I do not know whether it be true" - translating it using a subjunctive in English!]

As I'm sure you know, 'Si + imperfect subjunctive' is the standard way of expressing unfulfilled conditions - [it is then then followed by an expression in the conditional tense]:

e.g., "If you were to keep pushing ... " would then be translated: "Si siguieses empujando ..."

Regarding the "Si sigues empujando ...", which you quote:

The use of the Present Indicative here, indicates that the pushing is actually taking place.

Cheers, David Mc

Hola Shirley

There is no lesson on si + present subjunctive as this combination doesn't exist in Spanish, as David said before (only on that example with the verb saber)

I imagine you have already seen this lesson on si + present indicative. I've added a note at the end of that lesson to alert about not using si + present subjunctive. I hope it helps.

Saludos
