Hi there Alejandro ...The tilde was used to distinguish the fact that "ésa" is a pronoun in that^ sentence, not an adjective. The [demonstrative] adjective "esa" does not have a tilde over the "e".Actually, several decades ago the 'Academia' in Madrid decreed that the distinguishing tilde would only be required to avoid ambiguity [so in the sentence you quote, there is in fact no need for it].My Grammar book [admittedly a 2004 edition] mentions that 'El País' and 'El Mundo' [and a lot of Latin American newspapers] still instruct their writers to always include the tilde with demonstrative pronouns.Cheers !David Mc

Hola AlejandroAs David rightly said, this rule about marking the pronoun with the tilde stopped in 2010, however you may still find it. We've changed it in the text (so there is no tilde now) to follow the new rule. SaludosInma
