lo mío son los pequeños placeres

Why is "lo mío" singular? Why not "los míos son" or "lo mío es"?

Hola Gee,

The phrase is ‘es que lo mío son los pequeños placeres.” Translated it means “it’s just that the little pleasures are my thing / right up my street.”

Yes, the construction of the sentence is a bit tricky. I hope that helps. Saludos. John

I would think that it would either be “lo mío es” or “los míos son”.  If the speaker isn’t pronouncing the “s”, which is common here in Latin America, the phrase “los míos son” would sound like “lo mío son”.
