Including the definite article

Hola,

Is there a lesson which develops this theme, and discusses when the definite article is used with the noun in the body of a sentence - and if there are times when this is not the case?

Thanks. John

Hola John

There aren't more lessons on this subject at the moment but it's been noted for further content.

I would second John on that excellent suggestion - it's a very confusing thing.

In the end I've Googled it ("use and omission of the definite article in spanish"), and made flashcards from the grammar points.

Cheers,

This has confused me so often - I usually just wing it and hope I'm correct the odd time.  More lessons on this would be really helpful to me.

Hello, are there any updates on John's suggestion, yet again I find myself in definite article hell, and need more help!

One mistake that we often make as students is learning rules out of context.  Then we don’t remember them!  I find it better to learn the rules as we go.  For example, when learning about titles such as señora or doctor, we can learn the rules for using definite articles with titles.  Or when learning vocabulary for body parts we can learn that the definite article is used for body parts instead of possessives.  And so on.  It’s just a more naturalway to learn.
