“Hemos ido a visitar museos”. Why not fuimos a visitar museos?

I don’t understand the use of present perfect in telling past events.

Hola Donna

The speaker is using El Pretérito Perfecto because she is talking about things she did "this week". Although she is being a bit more specific saying what she did each day of the week, e.g. "el lunes....", "el martes..." and that may seem more specific, therefore it may trigger El Pretérito Indefinido, we may continue to use El Pretérito Perfecto if the speaker still sees all these activities as things that are inside the still not finished week. It is still connected to the present.

I hope this clarifies it for you,

un saludo

Inma

Thanks. I understand what you are saying. So in this situation would it be wrong to use el pretérito indefinido?

No, it would also be fine when we are specific about which day: "El lunes fui a ...", "El martes visité...", etc.
