Spanish Expressions with "tener"
Many Spanish expressions use the verb tener (to have) in an idiomatic way, meaning that they cannot be translated literally.
Tengo 30 años.
I am 30 [years old].
Tengo hambre.
I am hungry.
¿Tienes frio?
Are you cold?
Tengo ganas de llorar.
I feel like crying.
Ese chico tiene cara de pocos amigos.
That guy seems quite moody/grumpy.
