Did you know that Mexican women were not allowed to vote until the year 1955? In 1953, thanks to President Ruiz Cortines, all women were given the right to vote. Here's an interesting fact, one should mention that the state of Yucatán was the first to grant it in the twenties. There were many feminist movements proclaiming equality in Mexican society and although it took them time, they managed to get women to participate in Mexican political life.
