Francisco de Goya was born in Spain in 1746. His father was a very famous artisan, but he did not want to follow in his footsteps because he was passionate about art and creativity. In 1763, he met an artist called Francisco Bayeu, who helped him gain [his] fame as a great painter. In 1790, King Charles IV made him the official palace painter. As he was working for royalty, many of his paintings are on display in the Prado Museum. In his paintings Goya tried to portray the war and Spanish society of the time. He died in Bordeaux in 1828.
