The day of the Three Wise Men in Latin America has a great Catholic influence, but not all the countries of this territory celebrate it the same way. For example, in Mexico it is customary to eat a delicious Kings' cake accompanied by rich hot chocolate. In Cuba, January 6 is known as the Easter of the Blacks because formerly the slaves went out that day to dance in the street with their drums. In Puerto Rico, children visit the parks on January 5 uprooting handfuls of grass. Then, they leave them inside a shoebox under the Christmas tree. so that the camels of the Three Wise Men have something to eat. In exchange, the Three Wise Men leave them the gifts they have asked for. However, in Peru the tradition of giving gifts on the 6th has been lost, but the Bajada de Reyes is celebrated. This is a small religious holiday in which the nativity is disassembled, decorations are removed and money is donated to the church.
