Seriously, I'm passionate about Pedro Paulet, a Peruvian considered the father of astronautics. He was born in Arequipa at the end of the 19th century, to a humble family. At the school where he studied, he started reading several Jules Verne novels that caught his attention, especially the book "From the Earth to the Moon". This book changed his life and he became obsessed with making that trip a reality. In 1895 he traveled on a scholarship to Paris in order to study chemical engineering and he designed a rocket engine powered by liquid fuel, which would be the precursor to today's rockets.
