Ida Holz, of Uruguayan origin, also known as the mother of the internet, was a pioneer in the computer field of her country. She had the honor of belonging to the first generations of Uruguayan students in computer science in the 1970s. In the late eighties, she introduced the first stable email connection and then she achieved the spread of the internet throughout all of Uruguay in 1993. In addition, she promoted a socio-educational project which was created in 2007 to promote the use of laptops in schools. For all these achievements, she received several awards and her name is already part of the Internet Hall of Fame.
