How to say to have something done with a sentence using the verb in the 3rd person plural

in Spanish, mainly in specific situations when you have something done for you or when negative things happen to you, we can use a sentence that conjugates the main verb in the 3rd person plural (they), preceded by an indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, nos, os, les).

To have something done (for you)

For example:

Le arreglaron todas las imperfecciones de la cara.He had all the imperfections on his face fixed.

Ayer me sacaron una muela.Yesterday I had a tooth taken out.

Le han diseñado el traje a su gusto. She had her outfit designed the way she wanted it.

¿Te van a reparar la avería pronto? Are you going to have the problem fixed soon?

In negative situations, when you don't expect something to happen

For example:

Me han robado todas las joyas.I had all my jewels stolen.

Pobre Pedro, le han roto el corazón.Poor Pedro, he had his heart broken.

Nos han quitado nuestros juguetes. We had our toys taken away.

En el partido solo me pasaron el balón una vez.During the game I had the ball passed to me just once.

Bear in mind that when translated into English some of these sentences could also use the passive with "to be + participle" :

I had the ball passed to me once. → I was only passed the ball once.

We had our toys taken away. → Our toys were taken away.
