Conjugate stem-changing verbs: o > u (1st person plural) in the present subjunctive in Spanish (El Presente de Subjuntivo)

Take the fastest path to fluent Spanish

Generally, verbs with a vowel change in El Presente de Subjuntivo keep the original vowel from the infinitive in the nosotros form (first person plural). However, there are some verbs that don't follow this rule.

Dormir (to sleep) and Morir (to die) undergo this change. 

Conjugate dormir in El Presente de Subjuntivo in Spanish

yo duerma
duermas
él / ella / Ud. duerma
nosotros / nosotras durmamos
ellos / ellas / Uds.   duerman

Conjugation of morir in El Presente de Subjuntivo in Spanish

yo muera
mueras
él / ella / Ud. muera
nosotros / nosotras muramos
ellos / ellas / Uds.   mueran
Remember that o > u in the nosotros form of dormir and morir in El Presente de Subjuntivo.

No creo que esta noche durmamos en este hotel.I don't think we'll sleep in this hotel tonight.

Es improbable que muramos de sed.It's unlikely we'll die of thirst.

Dudo que durmamos más de cuatro horas.I doubt we'll sleep more than four hours.

¡Abre la ventana! ¿Quieres que nos muramos de calor?Open the window! Do you want us to die of heat?
