It is well known that migratory birds travel thousands of kilometres each year. However, climate change is affecting their migration routes. Warm temperatures alter migration patterns, causing some birds to arrive at their destinations early and others to arrive late. This can cause problems with reproduction and feeding. In addition, climate change affects food availability, as plants and insects change their cycles due to the weather, and birds find less food in the usual places. Likewise, extreme weather can destroy important habitats. Strong storms and droughts are increasingly common, reducing the areas where birds rest. Pollution and deforestation also complicate the situation. Therefore, it is crucial to protect ecosystems to help migratory birds. Scientists study these changes to find solutions, and international cooperation is necessary to face this challenge. We can all contribute by reducing our carbon footprint.
